Non-stipendiary Membership

Scholars who are offered non-stipendiary membership are required to come to the Institute with sufficient funds to support themselves during the period of their stay. The School requires proof of adequate funding, which we estimate to be typically between $35,000 and $70,000 for the academic year. (The amount needed depends in part on whether the scholar will come alone or accompanied by family members.) Scholars who have been offered non-stipendiary membership are required to provide documentation to demonstrate that they have adequate financial resources. The Faculty of the School of Historical Studies reserves the right to determine if resources as documented are sufficient, and to rescind the offer of membership if adequate resources cannot be demonstrated.
