Statement: Professor at the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, Alexander Nagel has written books on Michelangelo and religious reform and more broadly on Italian art and the Reformation image debates. Long interested in the temporal life of works of art, his interests have recently turned to questions of spatial orientation and configurations of place in Renaissance art.
