The Institute maintains apartments for its members.  In 2008-2009 the subsidized rentals range from $745 a month for an efficiency flat to $1,450 for a three-bedroom "townhouse" apartment. The monthly rent includes heat and utilities.

  dd01015_1.wmf (2226 bytes)Stipends

For the academic year 2009-2010 financial support for most successful candidates will be available up to a maximum of $65,000 for two terms (six months), or a maximum of $32,500 for one term (three months). A few senior scholars will be offered additional funding to help make up for losses in salary.  Stipends may be supplemented by other grants, including sabbatical salaries, but if the total exceeds the regular salary for the year in which the application is made, the stipend will be reduced accordingly. Please note that some grants are incompatible with an Institute membership.

  dd01015_1.wmf (2226 bytes)Travel

The Institute will provide limited reimbursement for travel expenses to incoming scholars from outside the Princeton area if a travel grant from another source is not available.  Travel reimbursement is based on the distance traveled, up to the amounts indicated below.  (The amount indicated will be doubled if the scholar is accompanied by family members.)

Local Travel (NY/Philadelphia corridor): $50
U.S. & Canada (Beyond NY and Philadelphia areas): $500
Western Europe & South America: $1,000
Eastern Europe, Russia & Middle East: $1,500
Asia, Africa, Oceania: $1,750

  dd01015_1.wmf (2226 bytes)Application

Applications and supporting materials must reach the Administrative Officer of the School by November 1 of the year preceding that for which application is made. Each year the School receives many more applications than it is able to accept because of its limited funds and facilities, and for this reason the success of an application cannot be assured.
